The second unique ability is whenever a player casts a spell, they lose 2 life. There closest comparison I could find to this ability is Netherborn Altar, which also lets you avoid paying the mana cost of the command tax by paying life instead but it's definitely not as good unless you have ways to remove the soul counters off it. So basically instead of paying the command tax with mana you pay it with life, which is a huge upgrade since mana is a significant bottleneck to casting all the spells you want each turn and paying life is not just way easier to do in this deck but can actually be an advantage, as I'll cover later on. She also has two unique and powerful abilities: the first is rather than pay 2 for each previous time you've cast this spell from the command zone this game, pay 2 life that many times. Liesa, Shroud of Dusk is a 5/5 legendary angel that costs 2WWB and has flying and lifelink. So yeah, Vorthos players rejoice! There's dozens of us! With the lore talk out of the way let's talk about the card itself. Innistrad is one of my favorite MTG settings and I've been keeping up with every lore tidbit related to the plane so this card is a real treat to see. Up until this point we knew almost nothing about Liesa, not even her name, but now we finally know a bit more about her from this card. Liesa and her entire flight was killed by Avacyn, Angel of Hope a millenium ago when they sided with a demon lord. Each sister led their own flight of angels that carried out specific tasks protecting the humans of the plane. For those who aren't familiar with the lore, Liesa was one of the four angel sisters on Innistrad, the others being Sigarda, Host of Herons, Bruna, Light of Alabaster, and Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. $ 0.00 $ 0.00 The Fourth Sister Revealed!īefore we dive into the card itself I need you to know that the Vorthos nerd in me is SO HAPPY to see Liesa finally be printed on a card. Today I'll be covering a commander that I'm SUPER HYPED for: Liesa, Shroud of Dusk! Most of these are what I run in my Liesa deck.Hey friends! Commander Legends preview season has started, so each day I'm selecting one brand new commander from the set that I'm excited about, break down the card, and give a quick take on how I'd build a deck around it along with some key cards. ![]() ] Can't go wrong with a tap to destroy any permanent on the field.] Another good game ender, especially if you run Erebos pay x life, everyone else loses x life, gain x life back.] Another down the road card if you're budget allows for it, simply use it on your commander or if not out on another lifelink creature, it gets crazy spend 30 life to pump, gain 30+ back.] first turn opener 6/6 flying lifelink is monstrous.] massive card, bit expensive cmc, but worth it, especially with exquisite blood, you'll gain a lot of life from it.] Can't go wrong with a 5 casting cost 8/8 with lifelink.] is a bit expensive price wise, but definitely a consideration for down the road. This way you can just let Liesa go to the graveyard rather than the command zone and open up other lines of play as well. Cards like ], ], or even just something like ] or ]. Also you may want to recur other creatures of yours that may get removed. Good old ] helps too.Įven though Liesa can cheat on commander tax it can become painful recasting her too any times. You need ways to make sure she sticks around to keep the pressure on. Liesa is a magnet for removal I've found in most games. ![]() Granting lifelink and double strike to the team and protection to all colors to smash through any resistance will put you so high and the opponents so low that they may find themselves locked under Liesa's static ability from then on if not getting killed outright. ] is extremely powerful if Liesa is on board and you have other creatures to swing with. ] type of cards) or other creatures with lifelink this can be a real beating on already pressured life totals through Liesa's static ability. With other incidental lifegain triggers (e.g. Then if Liesa punches an opponent for 5, you gain 5, then deal an additional 5 times X damage for each time you activated the ability. If you have sufficient mana you can activate the second ability on the guildmage multiple times. Lots of good suggestions in the posts here already, but wanted to mention a few others that I believe were overlooked in your list and the suggestions.įirst is ]. ![]()
